• Upon activation it transmits the 406 MHz signal as any 406 EPIRB does and will continue to do so as long as the EPIRB is on. The internal GPS begins to acquire coordinates. As soon as it gets a fix, which can take up to 15 or 20 minutes, the LAT/LONG coordinates are incorporated in the 406 MHz signal. The LAT/LONG coordinates are updated every 20 minutes.
